Safuan - Guitar

Safuan Spiee, known simply as Safuan, guitarist of THE FHASE. Active in music since 2015, his musical background spans multiple genres, including Pop Rock, Rock & Metal.

His musical journey began during his school years. At the age of 10, Safuan picked up a guitar for the first time after being inspired by a friend who owned a guitar. One of his earliest musical inspirations was The Cranberries, particularly their iconic song Zombie, which was also the first song he learned to play.

Safuan's first live performance took place in 2008 at his secondary school, where he performed with his school band as the lead guitarist in a Lagu Puisi performance. This marked the beginning of his journey as a performing musician.

In 2011, Safuan became involved with Squad Jamm, a Rock project where he continues to serve as the main guitarist. The band participated in various university Battle of the Bands competitions, achieving third place at the UniMAP Battle of the Bands in 2011, followed by first place at the UKM and UniKL Battle of the Bands in 2013. The project also produced several demo recordings, including Mimpi Kiwani, Adila and Bernafas di Kuala Lumpur.

In 2015 and 2016, Safuan played bass for Five Destroyed Army (FDA), exploring the local Metal scene and contributing to original material including Meanless, Art of Destruction, Korupsi and Apocalypse. From 2018 to 2022, he continued as bassist for Devillians, a Metalcore band that further expanded his experience within the local Metal scene.

Since 2021, Safuan has also been involved with Speakzodiac, contributing to songs including Fountain of Maid, Yours, Tear Down The Room and Blown. In 2025, he joined Arti', contributing to the complete production journey of Sesal, from recording through to its eventual release.

His musical journey eventually led him to Daun Band and THE FHASE, where he contributes as a guitarist and arranger. As part of THE FHASE, Safuan plays an important role in shaping the band's Pop Rock sound through guitar work and musical arrangement. He was involved in the production of Andai, released in 2026, and continues to contribute to the band's musical direction.

As a guitarist, Safuan is comfortable moving between Pop, Rock, Metal and Funk, drawing from his experience across different musical projects. His approach is influenced by his diverse musical taste and a constant desire to improve. His musical influences include Cromok, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Green Day, System of a Down and Avril Lavigne. These influences span Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal and Pop Rock. Among the musicians who have influenced his playing are Karl Cromok, Flea, Tom Morello and David Gilmour, whose approaches to guitar, tone and musical expression have helped shape his musical identity.

As a musician, Safuan hopes to remain relevant and create music that touches people's hearts. With THE FHASE, his ambition is to see the band grow beyond the local scene, produce more music and build a sustainable journey together.

For Safuan, music is universal, a language that connects people regardless of background or boundaries. THE FHASE represents another chapter in his ongoing musical journey, with the hope of reaching wider audiences and taking their music beyond Malaysia.
