Akmal Mazlan, better known by his stage name Achik, is the drummer of THE FHASE. Active in music since 2010, his interest in music began at the age of nine, supported by a family that encouraged him to pursue his passion from an early age.

Although he first learned the guitar during primary school, it was the drums that truly captured his interest. He began playing at the age of eleven and has continued developing his skills ever since. Growing up, he was influenced by bands such as Wings, Search, Whitesnake, Avenged Sevenfold, and Dream Theater, which helped shape his musical foundation.

Achik made his first public performance in 2011 at SJKC Ampang alongside his school friends, where he performed on drums as well as traditional instruments such as the gamelan. Before joining THE FHASE, he spent several years as the drummer for the rock band Kobeng, gaining experience through rehearsals and live performances.

His playing is influenced by drummers including Jenk Ali, Ujang Exist, Arthur Kam, Mike Portnoy, Zahid, and Pae Sembah Bumi. While rock remains his main influence, he also enjoys exploring pop rock, ballads, jazz, and traditional music, often drawing ideas from different genres to develop his own approach behind the drum kit.

Achik describes himself as a drummer who is always looking to improve by listening to a wide range of music. Rather than focusing on technical complexity, he prefers playing parts that serve the song while remaining open to trying new ideas and techniques.
